Aspartame is an artificial, non-saccharide sweetener. It is often used in diet and low-calorie food and drink products.
Although it has a similar calorific value to sucrose (sugar), aspartame is about 200 times sweeter — meaning less is required to achieve the same level of sweetness. However, it is less sweet than sucralose, another popular artificial sweetener.
The aspartame we supply comes as a white, odourless powder.
